Spinning

All depends
on the wheel’s
loaded tension:
too tight
and I’m crippled
with snarls that double
back in collapse;
too loose
and I am useless
with fluff that falls
apart. The old
woman taught me
to know, to feel
the tug of it,
the hum
of prayer
in fingertips.
